Our 2011 Show Success The 2011 showing season brought some success to the Nurrenyen Show team. In all we won 24 ribbons over the year. Our outstanding performer was Nurrenyen Falerin (pictured). He was placed 1st as either a junior or intermediate white male in four animal shows (Moss Vale, Goulburn, Hawkesbury and the Central Western Regional Show) also being adjudged The Champion in his class at each of those shows. He was placed second in the Intermediate Male White class at both the Victorian Alpaca Colourbration Show and The 18th National Show. Nurrenyen Solace won Reserve Champion Adult male at Hawkesbury and Nurrenyen Fomax won Reserve Champion Intermediate female at Hawkesbury. Both these alpaca are light fawn. Fomax’s fleece was placed second in her class at both Crookwell and Royal Canberra. |

Dr Jim Watts visits Nurrenyen - 7th July 2009 On the 7th of July, Dr Jim Watts, the founder of the SRS® breeding system visited Nurrenyen to inspect the herd and for a morning of filming and webcast interviews. Dr Watts recounted his experience with the development of the Merino Wool Industry while making expansive observations on the future of the Alpaca Wool industry. Jim was accompanied by John Pike, our Alpaca breeding advisor, who spoke about the Nurrenyen breeding objectives and our role in ultrafine alpaca fibre production. |
